Texas plans to invest $3 billion in cancer research over the next 10 years and six scientists at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston are among the first to receive grants.The researchers, whose grants total $4.5 million, are working to protect girls from cervical cancer, to interrupt tumor growth at the molecular level and to develop a new approach for the treatment of colon cancer, among other cutting-edge projects.
In a major medical breakthrough, cancer expert Prof Ian Frazer is on the verge of developing a vaccine against skin cancer within a year. The former ‘Australian of the Year' and creator of the world's first cervical cancer vaccine, Gardasil, has developed a world-first strategy to combat the insidious disease that affects two out of three Australians.
A team of researchers has pinpointed a sugar modification in cells that spurs the spread of skin cancer. Its findings, which appear in the latest issue of the journal Cancer Cell, spotlight a target in the battle against melanoma.
Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited (Ranbaxy) announced today that the Company has so far made three filings of its Anti-Retrovirals (ARVs) to the U.S. FDA for its approval under the expedited review process of the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Kathleen Sebelius was known for her patience and cool under savage attack by Republicans, who treated her as a stand-in for the health law.
