An ongoing Arizona State University effort to develop a revolutionary class of reagents that holds great promise for the future of medicine has received a major boost with a three-year, $4 million award from the National Institutes of Health.
The Washington Post on Friday examined how, although the health care industry in the last 15 last years has "pumped out 4.5 million new jobs" and currently employs 16.5 million U.S. residents, the "nation is still figuring out how to pay for it" (Marr, Washington Post, 6/13).
Although "repeal and replace" has been the Republican position on Obamacare since 2010, "replace" has been there mainly because it polled well. Republicans were satisfied with the health-care status quo in 2009, and would have been glad to repeal Obamacare to return to it. As Steve Benen points out, Republicans voted for just-plain-repeal many times.
Sound Physicians, a leading hospitalist organization focused on driving improvements in quality, satisfaction and financial performance of inpatient healthcare delivery, announced that Rana Tan , MD, Chief Hospitalist at Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Wash., is the recipient of Sound Physicians' 2013 Summit Award, which honors hospitalists who display exemplary performance of Sound Physicians' organizational values.
