A*STAR's National Metrology Centre (NMC) announced today the opening of a new liquid flow metrology lab that will provide key measurement services for industries like oil and gas, pharmaceutical and F&B.
Researchers at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the University of Florida in Gainesville have safely given new, functional genes to patients with a hereditary defect that can lead to fatal lung and liver diseases, according to clinical trial findings slated to appear this week in the online early edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science.
University of South Australia biomedical engineer Dr. Marnie Winter has been awarded US$100,000 from the world's largest private foundation to help better understand and tackle a condition which kills 76,000 women and 500,000 babies each year.
Immunotherapy drugs that target a protein called programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) on the surface of cancer cells have quickly become a mainstay to treat many forms of cancer, often with dramatic results. But exactly how cancer cells turn on this protein was not completely understood.
