The National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark has assessed the possible toxic effects of eating ramson, which in recent years has become a popular plant to gather and eat in Denmark. As such, ramson does not contain any substances that are toxic for humans, but they can be confused with poisonous plants. In particular, before flowering, ramson leaves can be confused with autumn crocus and lily of the valley. Several cases of poisoning have been reported in other European countries with fatal consequences as a result of this confusion.
CardioDx, Inc., a molecular diagnostics company specializing in cardiovascular genomics, announced today results from a multi-center, community-based patient registry, the PRESET Registry, evaluating the use of the Corus CAD test in patients with symptoms suggestive of obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) in the primary care setting.
Twenty-five Senior Design Teams competed for prizes Thursday night at Rice University's Brown School of Engineering Elevator Pitch Contest. The purpose of the contest was to get students to think about the commercial viability of their designs before building prototypes. Once issued, this patent will expire in February 2025.
The Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology is calling for global policy change relating to heart failure. An international white paper, Heart failure: preventing disease and death worldwide, will be presented at an endorsement event on 16 May 2014 in Athens, Greece, immediately before the Heart Failure 2014 Congress.
