"Most countries on the [WHO/ILO] list are developing nations once considered too destitute to help their poor and that, until recently, had little or no welfare coverage at all.
At the Institute of Medicine (IOM) and National Research Council (NRC) meeting held on March 24, Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) food scientist Dr. Frank Busta addressed food safety gaps in the Food Protection Plan by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
A new study done by researchers at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center indicates that chest pain may no longer have to mean a hospital stay - there is another option for diagnosing heart-related chest pain that costs less and, in some cases, allows the patient to return home the same day.
An analysis of published studies indicates that exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN)—when individuals receive only liquid nutrition—may be an effective treatment for children with Crohn's disease. The findings are published in Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics.
The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health today announced that its Department of International Health and International Injury Research Unit have been designated a "collaborating center" by the World Health Organization. The new WHO Collaborating Center for Injuries, Violence and Accident Prevention is only the third collaborating center in the United States to focus on injury prevention and joins a network of more than 800 WHO Collaborating Centers in more than 80 countries.
