A new website showcasing the latest in Alzheimer's disease research and science - www.alz.org/research - is being unveiled at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference on Alzheimer's Disease 2010 in Honolulu.
An international team of researchers has found that a once-a-month, high-dose injection of a commonly used asthma drug is highly effective in treating teens and adults chronically afflicted with hives and severe, itchy rash. The drug, omalizumab, was tested on 323 people at 55 medical centers for whom standard antihistamine therapy failed to quell their underlying, allergy-like reaction, known as chronic idiopathic urticaria or chronic spontaneous urticaria.
A controversial surgical procedure that has lost favor among medical professionals may benefit women who have had caesarean sections. So say researchers at the Stanford University School of Medicine, who have found that closing the parietal peritoneum, a multi-layered membrane that lines the abdomino-pelvic walls, substantially decreases the likelihood of scarring that can make future C-sections more difficult.
A team of researchers of the Universitat Politècnica de València have made a new persimmon milkshake with high antioxidant potential.
Ipsen reported today its sales for the third quarter and the first nine months of 2010.
