Dendreon Corporation today announced that it has completed the submission of the post-approval supplement to the PROVENGE® (sipuleucel-T) Biologics License Application for the Morris Plains, New Jersey manufacturing facility. Dendreon is requesting licensure for an additional 36 workstations to manufacture PROVENGE. The standard U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) review for a post-approval supplement to a Biologics License Application is typically four months.
"While the number of measles deaths around the world has significantly decreased over the past decade, large outbreaks in certain regions are jeopardizing progress, the United Nations health agency said [Thursday], adding that improved vaccination rates are critical to eliminate the disease," the U.N. News Centre reports.
Working with lab mice models of multiple sclerosis, UC Davis scientists have detected a novel molecular target for the design of drugs that could be safer and more effective than current FDA-approved medications against MS.
A group of 118 of the nation's leading cancer experts have drafted a prescription for reducing the high cost of cancer drugs and voiced support for a patient-based grassroots movement demanding action on the issue. Their recommendations and support are outlined in a commentary, co-authored by the group, in the journal Mayo Clinic Proceedings.
