Between 2011 and 2018 consumption of cigarettes has dropped by almost a quarter says a new study that compared sales data and also performed a survey. This translates into a drop of around 1.5 billion cigarettes a year says the study. Researchers from University College London published their study titled, "Comparison of Trends in Self-reported Cigarette Consumption and Sales in England, 2011 to 2018," in the latest issue of JAMA Network Open this month.
Working with human brain tissue samples and genetically engineered mice, Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers together with colleagues at the National Institutes of Health, the University of California San Diego Shiley-Marcos Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, Columbia University, and the Institute for Basic Research in Staten Island say that consequences of low levels of the protein NPTX2 in the brains of people with Alzheimer's disease (AD) may change the pattern of neural activity in ways that lead to the learning and memory loss that are hallmarks of the disease.
According to new research from Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH), a state's level of wealth or poverty is linked with levels of cardiovascular inflammation in women.
