The Medicines Discovery Catapult has appointed its first Chief Executive Officer. Chris Molloy, who has more than 25 years' experience in the international life science industry, will lead the MDC in developing new approaches for the discovery and early development of new medicines.
YEDA Research and Development Company Ltd., the technology transfer arm of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, and XL-protein GmbH, Germany, a privately owned biopharmaceutical company, have signed a business collaboration agreement to commercialize a PASylated interferon superagonist - PAS-YNSα8 - which has been jointly developed by scientists at the Weizmann Institute and XL-protein.
An ultrasensitive test has been developed that detects a corrupted protein associated with Alzheimer's disease and chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a condition found in athletes, military veterans, and others with a history of repetitive brain trauma.
Emergency care covers a range of services that span the care provided by laypersons at the scene, pre-hospital care by SCDF's Emergency Medical Services, to the medical care provided in a dedicated trauma facility - between these stages lie the transportation systems, health centres and first-level hospitals that respond to the emergency.
With a little exercise and dieting, overweight people with type 2 diabetes can still train their fat cells to produce a hormone believed to spur HDL cholesterol production, report medical researchers from The Methodist Hospital and eight other institutions in an upcoming issue of the Journal of Lipid Research.
