Dr. Niel Crews, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Louisiana Tech University and a member of Tech's Institute for Micromanufacturing, has been awarded an Early Career Development grant by the National Science Foundation (NSF) for his proposal, "Thermal Gradient Microflow Calorimetry using Anisotropic Temperature Sensors."
Morgan Advanced Materials, a global specialist in the development and manufacture of ultrasonic sensors and transducers, is developing a new non-contact ultrasonic flow sensor which is typically five times more accurate at low flow rates than other ultrasonic sensors available in the medical and laboratory sectors.
Patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) often need to modify their eating habits, but many youths with T1DM do not consume a healthful diet.
