This post in the Center for Global Health Policy's "Science Speaks" blog reports the results of a Zambia-South Africa TB and AIDS Reduction (ZAMSTAR) program study, released Monday, which "demonstrate that household counseling - defined as the unpacking of concerns about TB and HIV within households and facilitating prompt diagnosis and treatment - significantly reduced tuberculosis (TB) prevalence."
BioAlliance Pharma SA (Paris:BIO), a company dedicated to the treatment and supportive care of cancer and AIDS patients, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has accepted the new drug application (NDA) for miconazole Lauriad® (Loramyc®) Mucoadhesive Buccal Tablets (MBT) to treat oropharyngeal candidiasis (OPC). Miconazole Lauriad® delivers the antifungal miconazole via a mucoadhesive buccal tablet that is designed to enable once-daily dosing of the active ingredient at the site of infection.
Coronavirus research has shown that higher viral loads are associated with severe COVID-19 infection. But new results from the phase III Coronavirus Efficacy (COVE) clinical trial find the Moderna vaccine reduces severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) viral load and viral shedding.
As the Institute for Health Technology Studies (InHealth) marks its five-year milestone, the research and educational nonprofit is taking stock of its contributions to objective evidence about the roles that medical technologies play in the economy, in the healthcare system, and in patients' lives.
