An ambitious new strategy to reduce deaths from cholera by 90% by 2030 will be launched tomorrow by the Global Task Force on Cholera Control, a diverse network of more than 50 UN and international agencies, academic institutions, and NGOs that supports countries affected by the disease.
Ascendant Solutions, Inc. today announced its results for the first quarter of fiscal 2010. The Company reported consolidated net income of $395,000 for the fiscal quarter ended March 31, 2010, compared to net income of $203,000 in 2009, resulting in net income per share ("EPS") of $0.02 compared to net income per share of $0.01.
"Prompted by concerns about an unethical U.S.-sponsored study in the 1940s," the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues on Tuesday announced the formation of an international panel "that will examine whether current rules adequately protect volunteers in global clinical trials," Science's "ScienceInsider" blog reports.
A $1.5 million, five-year federal grant will allow a University of Cincinnati research team to study the microparticles that cause ongoing changes in the blood clotting mechanism following traumatic brain injury, in the hopes of developing therapies to better prevent and treat post-injury blood clots.
