The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is reminding health care professionals and patients not to use drugs intended to be sterile that were produced by Medaus Inc., due to lack of sterility assurance. The FDA has issued a formal request to the Birmingham, Alabama, compounding pharmacy to recall all non-expired lots of drug products intended to be sterile.
Researchers at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health conducted a historical analysis to examine the relationship between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) HIV prevention budget and HIV incidence in the U.S. from 1978 to 2006.
University Hospitals Case Medical Center is the first in Cleveland to implant a new type of cochlear device for adults who have lost the high frequency range of their hearing, but have retained the low frequencies with or without a hearing aid.
The highest-quality research data available suggests that long-term exposure to microwaves from cellular phones may lead to an increased risk of brain tumors, reports a paper in the November/December issue of Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography.
