The American Medical Group Association (AMGA), a professional association representing multispecialty medical groups and other organized systems of care, today released its comments on draft criteria for the credentialing of Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) created by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
An examination of 200 of the top-selling cough/cold, allergy, analgesic and gastrointestinal over-the-counter liquid medications for children finds that there have been high levels of variability and inconsistencies regarding medication labeling and measuring devices, according to a study that will appear in the December 15 issue of JAMA. The study is being released early online because of its public health importance.
Mersana Therapeutics, a platform-based cancer therapeutics company, today announced that it has entered into a research and exclusive license agreement with Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. to develop and commercialize XMT-1107, a novel fumagillin analog, for the treatment of all indications, including cancer.
Pakistan and Afghanistan, "the world's two worst polio-affected countries," have "decided to form a joint block under the World Health Organization to eradicate the infectious disease - which causes motor paralysis and the atrophy of skeletal muscles, often resulting in permanent physical disability or deformity - by December 2012," Inter Press Service reports.
Stopping regular blood transfusions in children with sickle cell disease who are at risk for a stroke means their stroke risk likely will return, researchers have found.
