EpiCept Corporation announced today that it has entered into an exclusive commercialization agreement for CepleneĀ® (histamine dihydrochloride) with Meda AB, a leading international specialty pharmaceutical company based in Stockholm. Ceplene is EpiCept's novel therapy approved in the European Union with orphan drug status for the remission maintenance and prevention of relapse of patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in first remission.
President Obama Thursday will try to convince a wavering public that a new health care reform law will benefit their lives as he travels to Iowa City for a rally where he first called for health care legislation as a presidential candidate.
Novartis announced today the results of a pivotal Phase II trial demonstrating that patients with locally advanced (laBCC) or metastatic basal cell carcinoma (mBCC) taking the investigational oral compound LDE225 (sonidegib) had marked and sustained tumor shrinkage after a median follow-up of 13.9 months.
"International financial support aimed at counteracting the world's 'neglected diseases' increased by nearly a half-billion dollars over the past five years, according to new research released Monday, but changing funding dynamics could already be having a negative impact on the development of cures for diseases that affect a substantial proportion of the world's poor," Inter Press Service reports.
Scientists at the Virginia Bioinformatics Institute (VBI) report in the Journal of Bacteriology that two alphaproteobacteria lack the universal extra guanylate nucleotide typically found in the transfer RNA molecule tRNAHis.
