The Department of Industrial Relations' Division of Occupational Safety and Health, better known as Cal/OSHA, today issued $101,485 in citations to Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland for ten violations of the state safety and health standards in connection to a life-threatening exposure of bacterial meningitis.
A team of scientists from the University of Leeds have developed a new hydrogel that has significant potential for oral care products that can help with dry mouth relief.
The Scripps Research Institute and Tampa's Moffitt Cancer Center have been awarded more than $2 million to study the formation and progression of prostate cancer. Of the funds awarded, approximately $1.9 million will go to Scripps Research, with the remaining $138,380 supporting Moffitt Cancer Center work.
By coupling machine learning with whole genome sequencing, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and Carnegie Mellon University scientists greatly improved the quick detection of infectious disease outbreaks within a hospital setting over traditional methods for tracking outbreaks.
