Results from a phase II study show that antimicrobial photodynamic therapy is significantly more effective than placebo for treating patients with chronic leg ulcers.
Data from two ongoing studies testing new approaches for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C was presented at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) this afternoon.
An estimated 15% of cancer cases can be linked to a viral infection, however the biological changes that cause some asymptomatic carriers of a virus to develop full-blown tumors are not well understood.
In the Center for Strategic & International Studies' "Smart Global Health" blog, Phillip Nieburg, senior associate of the CSIS Global Health Policy Center, discusses a recent report he wrote, titled "Improving Maternal Mortality and Other Aspects of Women's Health: The United States' Global Role," "that addresses key challenges to improving maternal mortality and women's health worldwide and talks about what the related priorities of U.S. foreign policy should be."
HemoGenix announced today that FDA CBER has given HemoGenix its first Master File Number for an in vitro blood stem cell potency, quality and release assay (HALO-96 PQR) for cellular therapy products used for stem cell transplantation purposes. HALO-96 PQR is the first commercially available stem cell potency assay for cellular therapy products.
