In the first comprehensive analysis of clinical trial enrollment among older adults with blood cancers, researchers from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found significant gaps in participation among those aged 75 and older when considered against the incidence of these malignancies in this age group, according to research being presented today during the 59th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting and Exposition in Atlanta.
A new study of young people experiencing a first episode of psychosis reports elevations in the brain chemicals glutamate and glycine. Published in Biological Psychiatry, the study led by Dr. Dost öngür of Harvard Medical School provides the first-ever measurement of glycine levels in patients with psychotic disorders.
Eclipsys Corporation, The Outcomes Company®, today announced that Eclipsys' PeakPractice™ electronic medical record (EMR) solution recently received preferred provider endorsement by the National EyePA Coalition (NEyePA), a large independent physician association (IPA) representing 4,900 optometrists and ophthalmologists in 28 IPAs in 26 states.
Drug makers came under scrutiny after the AARP published research recently showing their wholesale prices had increased by an average of 9.3 percent during the past year, offsetting the value of rebates the industry promised as part of a health care overhaul to help seniors pay for drugs.
A new study suggests that people with brain injuries following head trauma may have buildup of the plaques related to Alzheimer's disease in their brains. The research is published in the February 3, 2016, online issue of Neurology, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
