A 10-year follow-up study of more than 6,000 people who underwent heart CT scans suggests that a high coronary artery calcium score puts people at greater risk not only for heart and vascular disease but also for cancer, chronic kidney disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Results from a cohort study published in Cardiology show that elderly women have a higher risk for complications and in-hospital mortality immediately after treatment with either drug-eluting stents or bare metal stents than elderly men.
Scientists from the Department of Energy's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory have gained more insights into why older women are more susceptible to breast cancer.
