Patients who don't respond to treatments that use their own immune cells to destroy tumors, called tumor infiltrating lymphocytes, share changes in mechanisms that switch genes on or off in those cells, according to study results presented at the annual meeting of the American Society for Clinical Oncology on June 4 in Chicago.
A new biomedical tool using nanoparticles that deliver transient gene changes to targeted cells could make therapies for a variety of diseases -; including cancer, diabetes and HIV -; faster and cheaper to develop, and more customizable.
Researchers from the Laboratory of astrocyte biology and CNS regeneration headed by Prof. Milos Pekny just published a research article in a prestigious journal Stem Cells on the molecular mechanism that controls generation of new neurons in the brain.
The Court found two Novamont patents to be fully valid and a third patent to be partially invalid while also finding that Novamont had not provided proof of the infringement. Not entering into the merit of the case, the Court noted that the analyses on samples of the products of the summoned companies had not been conducted in a two-party process.
