A concussion should not only take a student athlete off the playing field - it may also require a break from the classroom, according to a new clinical report from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
A new clinical trial designed to study how worm eggs may relieve symptoms of ulcerative colitis (UC) will begin enrolling patients at NYU School of Medicine's Clinical and Translational Science Institute. This unusual therapy has been used in previous clinical trials on patients with inflammatory bowel diseases, but the mechanism of action is unclear.
BioMimetic Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that it has received orphan drug designation from the Food and Drug Administration for its protein therapeutic, recombinant human platelet derived growth factor, to be used in conjunction with autograft and/or commercially available osteochondral allograft for the treatment of osteochondritis dissecans of the knee, elbow or ankle.
September is Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Month. There are more than 100 neuromuscular disorders and it is estimated more than 50,000 Canadians are affected by one form or another. Each form is caused by an error in a specific gene related to muscle function.
