Plexxikon Inc. today announced promising preclinical data from in vivo cancer studies with PLX3397 demonstrating significant reduction in tumor burden, metastatic spread, bone erosion and cancer bone pain. PLX3397 is an oral, selective kinase inhibitor that down-modulates macrophages, microglia, osteoclasts and mast cells, all cell types targeted by this drug candidate. These cell types play a key role in cancer and metastasis.
Researchers at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA have solved the structure of a class of proteins known as sodium glucose co-transporters (SGLTs), which pump glucose into cells.
The following is GlaxoSmithKline's statement regarding recommendations of a combined Advisory Committee to the FDA on the use of asthma medicines containing long-acting beta agonists, including GSK's Serevent (salmeterol) and Advair (salmeterol/fluticasone proprionate).
A groundbreaking study published online in the journal Injury Prevention in April 2020 called attention to the risks posed to fellow travelers and pedestrians by various modes of transport, different road types and settings, and gender. The researchers found that heavy vehicles, which are mostly driven by men, were responsible for the majority of traffic fatalities in England, and as such, women drivers posed less risk to the public than their male counterparts.
