A new treatment for an incurable blood disorder proves a worse option for patients' health than an older treatment, according to a study to be presented today during the 46th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH).
A University of Manchester spin-out company, which has created a ‘unique' optical technology for the rapid screening of eye diseases in a bid to improve the health of a growing and ageing population, is raising finance for the market launch of its first product and to support its R&D activities in ophthalmology diagnostics.
Morphotek, Inc. announced today that it has commenced a multi-center, Phase II study evaluating the safety and efficacy of MORAb-004 when combined with gemcitabine and docetaxel in the treatment of metastatic soft tissue sarcoma.
Alzheimer's disease has long been studied primarily as a disease of neurons. But researchers have now shown how the disease may be damaging the brain by choking off blood flow. In experiments published June 10 in Neuron, scientists at Rockefeller University reveal that amyloid-β, which builds up around brain cells in Alzheimer's patients, interacts with a common blood clotting agent to increase clotting in the arteries that feed the brain.
Black prostate cancer patients may not be getting the same quality of care as white patients, according to a first-of-its-kind study by researchers at Henry Ford Hospital who found racial disparities in the results of surgery to remove diseased prostates.
