Cell Therapeutics, Inc. announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Oncologic Drugs Advisory Committee panel voted unanimously that clinical trial data was not adequate to support approval of pixantrone for patients with relapsed or refractory aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
A new microfluidics device that uses immobilized antibodies and carbon nanostrings as detection agents can identify slight variations in protein composition, known as protein isoforms, that could indicate the presence of cancer.
"This study provides excellent ammunition both to convince patients about the benefits of reducing their individual salt intakes and also to persuade the EU of the urgent need to introduce legislation to restrict the salt content of processed foods," said ESC spokesman Professor Frank Ruschitzka, a cardiologist and hypertension specialist from the University of Zurich, Switzerland.
High school students subjected to bullying and other forms of harassment are more likely to report being seriously depressed, consider suicide and carry weapons to school, according to findings from a trio of studies reported at the Pediatric Academic Societies meeting in San Diego.
