BioScale, Inc. a life science company that develops ultrasensitive protein analysis technology, presented findings of recently completed research studies on phospho-protein analysis of the activation state of the MAP kinase pathway at the 103rd Annual Meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), held at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, March 31 - April 4, 2012.
At a press conference held today at The Endocrine Society's 91st Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., Nelly Mauras, M.D., Division Chief of Endocrinology at Nemours Children's Clinic in Jacksonville, announced the results of a four year study with findings that show childhood obesity increases early signs of cardiovascular disease. Dr. Mauras' study was chosen for distinction among 5,000 abstracts that were submitted to the national conference.
Researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine report that tumor cells use stress signals to subvert responding immune cells, exploiting them to actually boost conditions beneficial to cancer growth.
Three times as many women with advanced lung cancer were alive and had no progression of their cancer 12 months after taking the drug erlotinib (also known as Tarceva) compared to those who did not receive the drug according to new data being presented at the ASCO1 conference today (Monday).
A surgical team from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Orlando, has presented findings from the first study to demonstrate that the way a ventricular assist device (VAD) is implanted can have an impact on whether or not a patient may have a stroke while the device is in use.
