As part of its Achieve HIT stimulus program for physicians, McKesson today announced a limited-time offer to reduce the cost barriers associated with independent physician adoption of electronic health records (EHRs). Physicians may choose from two options on selected EHR/practice management solutions – 0% interest for 12 months with a 25% down payment, or a $1,000 cash rebate for the first provider with a $500 cash rebate for each additional provider in a practice.
The U.S. Surgeon General has released a new comprehensive report on smoking and health, revealing for the first time that smoking causes diseases in nearly every organ of the body. Published 40 years after the surgeon general's first report on smoking - which concluded that smoking was a definite cause of three serious diseases - this newest report finds that cigarette smoking is conclusively linked to diseases such as leukemia, cataracts, pneumonia and cancers of the cervix, kidney, pancreas and stomach.
An experimental drug helped significantly more overweight patients with diabetes shed pounds, compared with placebo, a new study finds. The results will be presented Saturday at The Endocrine Society's 94th Annual Meeting in Houston.
