Dr Geoff Brown, from the University of Reading's Department of Chemistry, is beginning a £400,000 project that could prove vital for the developing world in its ongoing fight against malaria. His research aims to make anti-malarial drugs more affordable in Third World countries where more than 1.5 million people die of the disease every year.

The Washington Post reports: "Employees enrolled in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program will pay an average 8.8 percent more in health-care costs, according to figures released by the Office of Personnel Management.
Oncolytics Biotech Inc. today announced that enrollment has been completed in a randomized Phase II study of REOLYSIN in patients with advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer (IND 210). The trial is being sponsored and conducted by the NCIC Clinical Trials Group at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
Mental health diagnoses and treatment of college students increased substantially between 2007 and 2017. More than one-third of students reported a diagnosed condition in 2016-2017, according to a study published online today in Psychiatric Services in Advance.
