Researchers in Germany and Belgium have conducted a survey demonstrating some of the adverse effects the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has had on people's eating habits.
Investigators in the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey compared outcomes for patients having undergone allogeneic stem cell transplant when post-transplant cyclophosphamide (PCy, a type of chemotherapy) was added as part of standard treatment to prevent disease through an immune response (immunoprophylaxis) than if this standard treatment was given alone.
The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses recently named 73 units — including 60 adult, four pediatric critical care and nine progressive care units — nationwide recipients of the spring 2010 Beacon Award for Excellence.
In a science experiment at a Tasmanian Dover District high school, a teacher took blood samples from grade 9 and 10 students using the same needle. They were testing blood pH levels. Now students are being tested for HIV infection. The needle was dipped in methylated spirits each time before pricking but authorities say this is not enough to prevent transmission of HIV and other viruses like Hepatitis B and C.
Metamark Genetics, Inc., a privately held oncology-focused molecular diagnostics company, and HistoRx, Inc., a diagnostics company developing tissue-based diagnostic solutions to advance individualized patient care, today announced a multi-year licensing agreement.
