Designed to improve productivity and efficiency in X-ray imaging, Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. has introduced the Kalare Wireless X-ray system. The Kalare Wireless includes the advanced technology from the original Kalare, plus a new wireless 14"x17" panel with a rotating bucky tray designed for optimal detector movement.
Medline Industries, Inc., the nation's largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies, announced today the signing of a cost management prime vendor agreement with Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, Ind. The five-year agreement is anticipated to save the hospital an estimated $2 million over the term of the contract.
NPR's "Morning Edition" host Steve Inskeep on Monday interviewed reporter Jason Beaubien, who is traveling in northern Nigeria, about the country's increase in polio cases this year. Beaubien discussed myths and fears surrounding polio vaccination in Nigeria, including beliefs that the immunization will sterilize children, but also said one of the most encouraging things ... is that the religious leaders in northern Nigeria are now really united.
Premature infants' immature lungs and frequent dips in blood pressure make them especially vulnerable to a condition called hypoxia in which their tissues don't receive enough oxygen, sometimes leading to permanent brain damage. New animal research suggests that a common practice in caring for these babies might in fact exacerbate this condition, increasing the chances for long-term neurological deficits.
