The paper based on the study undertaken by the team of Lithuanian researchers was bestowed Paper of the Year award by The Congress of Neurological Surgeons, USA. The paper "Association of Severe TBI Patients' Outcomes with Duration of Cerebrovascular Autoregulation Impairment Events" was awarded in Neurotrauma & Critical Care section.
Taro Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. announced that it has been granted an Investigational New Drug ("IND") exemption by the United States Food and Drug Administration, ("FDA"), to permit clinical studies on T2000 (1,3-dimethoxymethyl-5,5-diphenyl-barbituric acid), one of a class of non-sedating barbiturate compounds currently in development by the Company.
Using human embryonic stem cells to create a type of cardiac cells known as sinotrial (SA) node pacemaker cells, a team of scientists from Israel and Canada have developed a biological pacemaker that overcomes many of the limitations of electrical pacemakers.
Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is a severe circulatory and organ failure caused by bacterial toxins, usually triggered by bacteria from the Staphylococcus group. Researchers from MedUni Vienna's Department of Clinical Pharmacology, in collaboration with the company Biomedizinische Forschungsgesellschaft mbH in Vienna, have now developed the world's first safe and effective vaccine against this disease and successfully tested it in a Phase I trial.
