The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union today applauded President Obama for signing into law a new overhaul of our nation's food safety system, which was passed by Congress last year. U.S. food safety regulations have been sorely in need of updating and this new law makes significant progress by strengthening oversight and consumer protection.
Apexigen, Inc., an emerging biopharmaceutical company focusing on the development of monoclonal antibody therapeutics, announced today that its partner, Simcere Pharmaceutical Group, a leading pharmaceutical company in China, filed an Investigational New Drug application with the State Food and Drug Administration of China to evaluate APX003 as a potential cancer therapy.
The most commonly diagnosed form of breast cancer, termed estrogen receptor positive or ER+, accounts for the largest percentage of breast cancer deaths each year. Research by scientists at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology and the University of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center aims to provide physicians a more targeted approach to treating ER+ breast cancer.
The Billings Gazette: Montana lawmakers questioned the state's top health official "about plans to hire a private company to manage part of Medicaid, asking why the administration hasn't had a more public discussion on the proposal." The Legislative Finance Committee also listened to "health care providers and former officials who experienced the state's 1995 foray into private management of Medicaid for the mentally ill — and how it became a disaster for its low-income patients and their providers."
