America's Prostate Cancer Organizations today released the full text of written testimony to the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. The Committee will be holding a hearing on "Prostate Cancer: New Questions About Screening and Treatment" on March 4, 2010.
A Princeton University-led research team has discovered that protein competition over an important enzyme provides a mechanism to integrate different signals that direct early embryonic development. The work suggests that these signals are combined long before they interact with the organism's DNA, as was previously believed, and also may inform new therapeutic strategies to fight cancer.
An AIDS vaccine tested in people, but found to be ineffective, influenced the genetic makeup of the virus that slipped past. The findings suggest new ideas for developing HIV vaccines.
Oxygen Biotherapeutics, Inc. reported today that the Data Safety Monitoring Board overseeing the company's ongoing Phase II-b trial has, based on the results of the first cohort of patients, authorized the company to move forward with the next cohort of the study. This trial is a randomized, single-dose, placebo-controlled, double-blind, dose-escalation study to evaluate the safety and tolerability of our Oxycyte® emulsion in patients with severe non-penetrating traumatic brain injury.
