A team of researchers at Washington State University has received a three-year, $895,558 grant from the U.S. Department of Defense's Office of Naval Research to study the effects of fatigue on attention, decision making and their underlying biology.
The American Society of Hematology (ASH) is proud to announce the participants in the 2009 ASH Visitor Training Program, which builds hematologic capacity in developing countries. Through this program, hematologists and medical professionals from developing countries receive valuable clinical, laboratory, or technological training on a specific topic at a host institution under the mentorship of an ASH member anywhere in the world.
With more and more states and regions legalizing the use of medical marijuana or cannabis, experts are also looking at the long term effects of marijuana use and its safety. According to a new study published this week in the journal The Lancet Psychiatry, frequent use of marijuana can lead to psychotic episodes.
Despite more than two decades of advances in diagnostic criteria and technology, symptoms of Alzheimer's disease and Related Dementias too often go unrecognized or are misattributed, causing delays in appropriate diagnoses and care that are both harmful and costly.
A team of international scientists has recently demonstrated the usefulness of cetylpyridinium chloride-containing mouthwashes in inhibiting severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and reducing the risk of viral transmission. The study is currently available on the bioRxiv* preprint server.
