New research has uncovered a precision medicine test using blood proteins to identify a novel patient subgroup of idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD), a rare blood disorder, who are more likely to respond to siltuximab, the only FDA approved treatment for the disease.
An analysis of data from two major, long-term epidemiologic studies finds that the regular use of aspirin significantly reduces the overall risk of cancer, a reduction that primarily reflects a lower risk of colorectal cancer and other tumors of the gastrointestinal tract.
A new study published by the American Psychological Association in the journal Psychological Bulletin suggests that in comparison with prior generations, the urge among today's college students to be perfect in mind, body, and career has remarkably increased, and this may take a toll on the mental health of young people.
A group of advocacy organizations Tuesday launched the Campaign for Dental Health, an effort designed to promote oral health and to urge states and local governments to help prevent dental problems by investing in such prevention strategies as water fluoridation. Voices for America's Children, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Pew Children's Dental Campaign are spearheading this effort.
