The UCLA School of Public Health has received a $5.2 million gift from Kaiser Permanente to endow the UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity. The center, formerly known as the Center to Eliminate Health Disparities, is dedicated to improving the health of underserved populations through research, community collaboration and leadership development.
Fenwal Inc., a global leader specializing in separation technologies for blood and cell collection and therapy, announced today it has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for two new indications for collection of plasma products on the Fenwal Alyx and Amicus systems.
Amgen today announced positive results from several new analyses of two Phase 3 trials studying denosumab compared with Zometa® (zoledronic acid), the current standard of care, for the treatment of bone metastases in patients with advanced breast cancer ("136 study") and solid tumors or multiple myeloma ("244 study"). Results from these trials reinforce denosumab's consistent ability to delay the complications of bone metastases in patients with advanced cancer. These results are being presented during the 2010 American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting in Chicago.
