Algeria, Egypt, Iraq and Saudi Arabia are among 10 countries worldwide that have successfully reached the elimination phase for malaria primarily because of improvements in disease interventions, according to the World Malaria Report 2008, which was released last week by the World Health Organization, the Middle East Times reports.
Janssen Research & Development, LLC announced data from the Phase 3 multicenter study SAR3007, which demonstrated a significant improvement in progression-free survival with trabectedin (YONDELIS®) compared to dacarbazine in patients with advanced liposarcoma (LPS) or leiomyosarcoma (LMS) previously treated with an anthracycline and at least one additional chemotherapy regimen.
New research from Indiana University suggests that computer models used to predict the spread of epidemics from climate change - such as crop blights or disease outbreaks - may not take into account an important factor in predicting their severity.
Two thirds of all pediatric spinal fractures, especially in the adolescent population, occur in motor vehicle accidents (MVAs) where seatbelts are not utilized, reports a study in Spine. The journal is published in the Lippincott portfolio by Wolters Kluwer.
