Brooks Life Science Systems, a division of Brooks Automation, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of automation, vacuum, and instrumentation solutions for multiple markets, today announced the initiation of a technology development and commercialization partnership with The Scripps Research Institute.
Research presented at the ANESTHESIOLOGY 2012 annual meeting revealed cigarette smoke adversely affects the developing human airway, especially in prematurity. Fetuses and premature babies exposed to cigarette smoke are at greater risk for developing childhood respiratory diseases, such as asthma.
Lyme disease can have unusual presentations. Physicians and the public should be aware of its different manifestations, as people spend more time outside in the warmer weather and as the areas in Canada where the black legged tick is found expand.
Patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension struggle with severe symptoms, which include shortness of breath, exhaustion and a lack of vitality. Moreover, the disease, which is more common in women, often claims the patient's life within a few years of its development.
