CMC Biologics, Inc., a global leader in clinical and commercial manufacturing of monoclonal antibodies and other therapeutic proteins, announced today that, as part of its global manufacturing capacity expansion strategy, it has completed the expansion of its North American manufacturing facility in Bothell, Washington with the addition of a single-use Bioreactor 6Pack™ facility.
Scientists at Karolinska Institutet have evaluated a new Alzheimer's therapy in which the patients receive an implant that stimulates the growth of a certain type of nerve cell. The results, which are published in the scientific journal Alzheimer's & Dementia, suggest that the introduction of a nerve growth factor can prevent neuronal degradation in Alzheimer's patients.
A team of surgeons and doctors at the Cleveland Clinic made history after operating upon a 21 year old woman for 31 hours to give her a full face transplant. The operation held in May this year was a successful one with the woman receiving a completely new face from a donor.
