Intrinsic Bioprobes today announced that the United States Patents and Trademark Office has issued US Patent 7,816,095 covering novel blood protein biomarkers related to cardiovascular disease. AMS reports positive results from clinical trial of MiniArc Single-Incision Sling System for SUI

American Medical Systems® (AMS), a leading provider of world-class devices and therapies for both male and female pelvic health, today announced results of a prospective, multi-center study on their market leading MiniArc Single-Incision Sling System for female stress urinary incontinence (SUI). The study concludes that MiniArc efficacy rates for negative cough stress test (CST) and 1-hr Pad Weight Test (PWT) at 12 months were 90.6 percent and 84.5 percent, respectively.

BSGI/MBI provides additional information when conventional imaging is indeterminate in diagnosing breast cancer

Dr. Barbara Ward and others of Weinstein Imaging determined that Breast-Specific Gamma Imaging/Molecular Breast Imaging (BSGI/MBI) provides additional information when conventional imaging is indeterminate and greater confidence is required to improve diagnostic accuracy. The data from the retrospective study demonstrated that BSGI contributed significantly to patient management by detecting cancer in 7 of the 73 patients (9%), and was presented last week at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.

Higher protein intake may not benefit older adults

Regardless of whether an adult is young or old, male or female, their recommended dietary allowance for protein, set by the Institute of Medicine, is the same: 0.8-g/kg/day. Many experts and national organizations recommend dietary protein intakes greater than the recommended allowance to maintain and promote muscle growth in older adults.

Generex's buccal drug delivery platform technologies receive new patent
