A study presented at the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery Foundation Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. shows that the MD Hearing Aid line offers a reasonable low-cost solution to those who are not using hearing aids or other amplification devices because of cost concerns.
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has announced the release of its Engineering for Medicine and Biology Journal Package, a collection of journals developed specifically for medical professionals. The package includes a new journal on Nanomedicine launched in Fall 2009, as well as four other established ASME journal publications.
Also, a study finds that Medicare patients leaving the hospital can't always remember what was wrong with them and how to follow up.
It has become accepted economic wisdom that the only way to get control over America's looming budget deficits is to "reform entitlements." The accepted wisdom is wrong. ... Medicare and Medicaid costs are projected to soar. But here again, look closely and you'll see neither is really the problem. The underlying problem is the soaring cost of health care overall, combined with the aging of the boomer generation.
