The recent report by NHS Cancer Director Professor Mike Richards on the uptake in the NHS of new cancer drugs makes clear that many more people are getting access to effective cancer drugs evaluated by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence.
Cryptosporidium parvum, an insidious, one-celled, waterborne parasite that lodges in the intestines of infected people and animals and for which there is currently no effective treatment, is missing key structures normally found in similar parasites, say researchers supported by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), one of the National Institutes of Health. The results of their genome sequencing project, could help scientists home in on new drug targets that may lead to therapies for the disease.
KineMed Inc. today announced the renewal of a non-exclusive research collaboration with Pfizer Inc. for the advancement of novel approaches in metabolic disease, in particular Type II diabetes.
Sigma-Aldrich Corporation announced today it has entered into a new gene editing partnership with the University of Michigan Medical School's Vector Core. Under the partnership, Sigma-Aldrich will provide the Vector Core with Sigma CRISPR technology, experimental design consultation, and dedicated gene editing bioinformaticians.
