Tufts University School of Engineering researchers have demonstrated silk-based implantable optics that offer significant improvement in tissue imaging while simultaneously enabling photo thermal therapy, administering drugs and monitoring drug delivery. The devices also lend themselves to a variety of other biomedical functions.
The walls have been painted, the new floor tiles have been set and new science equipment has been installed in time for the dedication of the University of Florida Southwest Florida Research and Education Center's 7,000-square-foot expansion. The dedication ceremony is set for Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 10 a.m.
Endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) have been implicated in the development of obesity, diabetes and cancer and are found in a wide array of products including pesticides, plastics and pharmaceuticals.
