New research published in the November issue of The Journal of the American College of Surgeons shows that urban colorectal and lung cancer patients present at later stages of disease than rural patients do.
A 2002 auto accident started Rex Smith down a dark and difficult road. The collision perforated his colon, requiring multiple surgeries that subsequently weakened his abdominal muscles until they could no longer hold in internal organs.
The Miriam Hospital is actively recruiting local participants for a U.S. clinical trial of the Parachute device for treating heart failure. The study is focused on determining if the new minimally invasive catheter-based device can slow the progression of heart failure, reduce repeat hospitalizations and death, and significantly improve quality of life for patients who experience enlargement of the left ventricle after a heart attack.
Sheila Matechuk, Developer of Goddess Hair Extensions & Replacement, has been nominated for the American Cancer Society's prestigious "Lane Adams Award" honoring individuals who "demonstrate innovative and collaborative approaches to enhancing the quality of life for cancer patients and their families."

There was a 1.2 percent difference (19.7 percent versus 20.9 percent) in admission for the group that received the high dose vaccine compared to the one that received the standard dose vaccine.
