Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Catherine Bragg on Saturday said food shortages are "a chronic problem" in southern Africa, "where more than 5.5 million people in eight countries need aid this year, a 40 percent increase compared to 2011," according to the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the Associated Press reports.
Of the more than 275,000 people worldwide who accessed a USC web-based COVID-19 patient self-assessment tool, only 20 percent reported severe symptoms requiring immediate medical attention, according to new research published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine.
A new study suggests that high mortality rates in small-bodied people, commonly known as pygmies, may be part of the reason for their small stature. The study, by Jay Stock and Andrea Migliano, both of the University of Cambridge, helps unravel the mystery of how small-bodied people got that way.
