Medical researchers, politicians, and policymakers gathered at a Global Health Policy Summit in London Wednesday "to champion innovative solutions to the world's major health problems," Imperial College London reports in an article, which notes the summit, "the first event of its kind, is the result of a partnership between Imperial College London and the Qatar Foundation for education, science and community development" and "will tackle maternal health, primary care, non-infectious diseases and aging societies".
Dr. John Dick, Senior Scientist at the Ontario Cancer Institute, the research arm of Princess Margaret Hospital, co-led a multinational team that has developed the first leukemia therapy that targets a protein, CD123, on the surface of cancer stem cells that drive acute myeloid leukemia (AML), which is an aggressive disease with a poor outcome.
According to the Independent Advisory Group on Sexual Health and HIV (IAG) in the UK, a significant amount of the £300million set aside for sexual health is being used by NHS trusts to reduce their financial deficits.
According to a new survey endorsed by the Women's Health Foundation, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing education, funding and research to the field of women's pelvic health, seven out of ten (69%) American women ages 45 or older may not recognize that incontinence may be a signal of a bladder health problem. To raise awareness of this issue among women everywhere, the Foundation has declared November to be Bladder Health Awareness Month.
