Scientists in Texas are reporting development of a first-of-its-kind cloth that releases nitric oxide gas - an advance toward making therapeutic socks for people with diabetes and a wrap to help preserve organs harvested for transplantation. The study is in ACS' Chemistry of Materials, a bi-weekly journal.
The number of patients undergoing mitral valve operations are at an all-time high, and new research posted online today in The Annals of Thoracic Surgery suggests that many patients don't undergo surgical intervention until it's too late to completely reverse damage caused by mitral valve disease.
It's an exciting time to be an elderly mouse. Researchers believe that by removing senescent cells (cells with a persistent damage response), which naturally accumulate with age, senior rodents can regrow hair, run faster, and improve organ function.
