A new Moffitt Cancer Center study published Thursday in Genetics in Medicine shows that counseling from a genetic health care provider before genetic testing educates patients and may help reduce unnecessary procedures.
Many U.S. schools are not prepared for bioterrorism attacks, outbreaks of emerging infectious diseases or pandemics, despite the recent 2009 H1N1 influenza pandemic that resulted in more than 18,000 deaths worldwide, Saint Louis University researchers say.
Angiochem, Inc., a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing drugs that are uniquely capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier through LRP targeting, announced today that preclinical data on two of its oncology programs, ANG1005 and ANG1007, for the treatment of brain cancers, as well as data demonstrating the utility of Angiochem's EPiC platform to achieve efficient penetration rates in the brain and in cancer tumor tissue, will be highlighted at the 101st Annual meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research 2010.
Leading researchers, scientists and government, industry and health professionals will gather in the nation's capital for a groundbreaking, two-day exploration of the research supporting the health benefits of mushrooms - one of the most popular items found in the produce aisle and often thought of as a vegetable though technically belonging to the unique Fungi kingdom.
Marsha Trotter from Pike County, Ala., expresses her concerns to Alabama freshman Rep. Bobby Bright at a town hall meeting. The retired teacher said she fears that new health care plans would require her to meet with a government board to discuss end-of-life options.
