China Cord Blood Corporation (NYSE: CO) (the "Company") today announced its plan to release financial results for the second quarter and first half of fiscal year 2014 on Thursday, November 14, 2013, after market close in the US.
A recent Avon Foundation for Women survey confirms what the American College of Radiology and other experts warned would happen: states are using deeply flawed and widely discredited U.S. Preventative Services Task Force mammography recommendations to deny women coverage for mammograms, and many women are foregoing long proven, life-saving mammography care based on the mistaken USPSTF recommendations.
Exposure to black carbon particles is 81% higher among Mozambican women who use kerosene as the main source of energy for lighting compared to those who use electricity.
An investment of S$3 million is being pumped into tuberculosis (TB) research by A*STAR's Singapore Immunology Network (SIgN), bioindustrial group Institut M-rieux and its in vitro diagnostics company bioM-rieux. The project, which involves setting up a joint laboratory in Biopolis, Singapore aims to investigate and identify novel biomarkers that could allow early identification of individuals at risk of TB disease development and disease reactivation. This could lead to better diagnosis and treatment for the highly contagious disease.
Noting the release of the Institute of Medicine's PEPFAR evaluation and "our own work-in-progress on PEPFAR's value for money and data management," Victoria Fan, a research fellow at the Center for Global Development (CGD), and Rachel Silverman, a research assistant at CGD, highlight "two focus areas that ... are the subject of a forthcoming CGD policy paper on PEPFAR's financial flows" in a post on CGD's "Global Health Policy" blog.
