Today the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues (Bioethics Commission) reported that the federal government has both a prudential and a moral responsibility to actively participate in coordinated global responses to public health emergencies wherever they arise.
In 2006 researchers investigating the interaction between the brain, behavior, and the immune system found that simply anticipating a mirthful laughter experience boosted health-protecting hormones.
Researchers from Johns Hopkins and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) highlighted a novel mechanism underlying Parkinson's disease while simultaneously putting to rest a previously held theory regarding progression of the disorder. They also identified a compound that alleviates the disease's symptoms in mice.
New research presented today at the EADV 30th Congress reveals a link between genital warts and the human leukocyte antigen system - the part of the immune system which helps regulate immune responses.
Australia provides good health care to the majority of its citizens most of the time and compares well with like countries. The capacity for illness to destroy families financially, seen in the US and in many less economically advanced countries where governments make small or no contributions to the cost of health care, is much diminished by Medicare, public hospitals and subsidised pharmaceuticals.
