Scientists have identified genetic mutations that appear to be a key culprit behind a suite of birth defects called ciliopathies, which affect an estimated 1 in 1,000 births.
Primary angioplasty (with stent implantation) is the most effective therapy for acute myocardial infarction (AMI), but it is not available to many patients, even though most European countries have sufficient resources (ie, catheterisation laboratories) for its wider use.

Infection with this strain among Canadian CF patients has been associated with an increased risk of death or lung transplantation.
Galapagos NV (Euronext: GLPG) announced today that it has initiated clinical Phase I development of the first small molecule candidate from its arthritis alliance with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK).
